Fusion Belly Dance
Serpentine Dreams
For as far back as human consciousness seems to extend associations of female mysticism and the serpent seems to be intertwined. The serpent has also long been associated with Belly Dance. I've spent a long time with snakes caring for and communing with them. The primal consciousness they embody and teach is so very powerful and undeniable. In this workshop we will discuss the serpentine consciousness and journey through meditation and movement. We will explore how moving our consciousness center from the head mind to the body wisdom affects our dance.

The Snake Alchemy of Medusa:
transforming shadow to gift
Ritual circle experience exploring what one takes as a curse and turning it into a gift though the symbolism of snake and transformational shedding.

The Gorgoneion, Evil Eye, and Justice:
How Medusa Became an Apotropaic Icon
Step back in time with us to uncover the roots of why Medusa has become so thoroughly linked with protective practices over time. We will delve into different versions of her myth, examining her journey from a woman wronged into a fearsome, protective goddess. With this foundation, we’ll delve into practices throughout the ages that called upon her for protection and justice. At the intersection of these two elements lies defense against and removal of the Evil Eye: the manifestation of jealousy and the ill will of others. We’ll examine how she has been worked with across time to protect against and remove the Evil Eye, the force of injustice that spreads between the common folx. We will end with examining how she can be worked with for larger scale justice workings. If time allows, we can also include a small working for justice in American society at the end of the talk. This talk will include a trigger warning at the beginning due to the nature of the trauma Medusa experiences in her stories. We consider it important not to shy away from the truth of the trauma Medusa experienced, while also giving those who have experienced similar themselves the space to tend to their own needs if the topic would be upsetting to them.
